Johanna Oosterwyk, Greenhouse Manager, estimates that it will bloom by the middle of next week.

The botany department has lots of excellent background material online if you are looking for information. This plant is a seed from the first bloom of Big Bucky in 2001. Ours has bloomed once before in September 2010. Since then it has gone dormant and put up a single leaf for about 18 months and then had a second dormant period of about three months last spring. This bloom started to emerge in June as a small bud.
