What is your research about and what is the impact? How does it relate to the horticulture industry, what is the goal?
My project is focused on strengthening the organic vegetable farm manager apprenticeship program. I will be working with Sarah Ugoretz and Claire Strader from FairShare CSA coalition to create workshops and augment educational resources for the program. The ultimate goal is to grow the program by creating more space for apprentices and providing information requested by farmers and apprentices.
Why did you choose UW-Madison? What is your favorite part of Madison?
I chose UW-Madison because of the agroecology program. I was eager to be a part of an interdisciplinary program and work at a university where extension and participatory research are integral parts of community engagement. I love the natural spaces and local support in Madison. There are many parks in the city where you can enjoy nature and a plethora of events where you can support local farms or small businesses.
What inspires you to do the work you do?
I am inspired by farmers working hard everyday to provide quality food for the people.
